Where they're located in New Jersey: 

Spotted Salamanders can be found in all of the northern region and some of the southern region of the state

Placement on Endangerment Scale: 

Least Concern (LC)

Physical Characteristics:

Spotted Salamanders have a large, bulky body with very dark coloring and yellow spots across the body. They can grow to be 4-10 inches in length.

Preferred habitat:

Vernal pools, deciduous or mixed woods and may rarely be found under debris in humid climates
