Physical characteristics:
The Redbelly Turtle has reddish markings on a dark shell. They also have a red-orange plastron. As the turtle grows it often becomes darker in coloring. It is the largest basking turtle in the area, growing to be 10-16 inches in length.

Ponds, lakes, rivers, streams, ditches and brackish marshes
